joyful, relaxed, documentary

Wedding photography

Great photos aren’t enough, you will have had the best experience, and your photos will capture how it all felt.

I love watching the day unfold and taking photos that tell the real stories of your wedding day. It's quite a documentary / photojournalism approach and is my favourite way of getting to the gold. I'll pipe up when you need me to, proving only as much direction as needed, and otherwise move about calmly & unobtrusively getting the sweet shots. I'll keep your hype-team wedding party, that's had too much fizzy wine, on task & on time. I'm your biggest fan, your Mother in law charmer, and it turns out you do look damn smoking in photos even though you told me you were a little worried about getting your picture taken.

Photo time is slipping away from the party for a few minutes with your besties to pop a bottle of bubbles and scoff some cheese and crackers. It's time alone to hold each other’s hands tight, look at the person you just married, and have zero control of the silly grin spreading across your face. It's going for a wander, it's not posing, and I promise, it's not taking you away for two hours. You’re throwing the greatest party of your life and I don’t want you to miss it!

Weddings are my perfect storm of reacting and creating. I’ll anticipate those fleeting, special moments before they happen

  • I’m based in Wellington, no travel fees for the Wellington region, Wairarapa, and Kapiti. I cover the lower North Island Manawatū, Whanganui, Horowhenua, Palmerston North, Hawkes Bay areas. Always down for a mission out to the coast of the Wairarapa, and further afield when the stars align.

We have many brilliant venues locally that I adore returning to, but it's always an extra thrill when I get to shoot somewhere new! Travel expenses are added for anywhere north of Masterton or Levin, or the South Island. I will get on a plane for a wedding.

  • First, fill in the contact form, I'll get back to you within a day with the pricing and my availability. Then we can meet up for a drink & chats, in person or a zoom. I know you're busy, and maybe not even in NZ, we don't have to chat before you book, we can just email, but I push for it ‘cause I'll be hanging out with you all day at your wedding, you should check I'm not a total weirdo. We'll get to know each other and suss out how long you want coverage for on the day, you can always add coverage later.

Fill in the booking form with a few more details, a 25% booking fee and signed agreement secures your date. I help you out with planning & the timeline in the lead up to the big day.

  • Two or three days after your wedding I'll send through some peeks so you'll have some sweet photos to share pretty pronto. Your finished gallery is always chocka full of precious photos, more than what I'll say I’ll give you.

Full delivery takes up to 8 weeks. Your photos are delivered in an online, password protected gallery, in both big/high resolution and small/web res Jpeg files for sharing online. You can share, download the files, & order archival prints. - This is a pretty sweet feature 'cause you can give Mum the gallery link and she can order prints of your wedding photos ‘til her heart's content.

Your photos are all edited by me and you'll get a mix of colour & B+W. And just when you're thinking ‘I'm going to log into the gallery and look at the photos again!’ A little gift will show up in the letterbox with some actual legit printed photos you can magnet onto the fridge, and some yummy choccy.

  • Yes! Looking at your wedding photos on a screen is all well and good, but there sure is something about holding a book in your lap and immersing yourself in your wedding story as you turn each page, or hanging a beautifully framed print on your wall, that really makes them come to life. Beautiful, handcrafted, thick fine art paper wedding albums. Made with archival materials these albums will last many lifetimes. Archival prints can be ordered directly from your gallery.

  • Yes I do! You can add 35mm & 120 medium format film into your package right in the booking form. I'll shoot 'hybrid' a mix of digital and film.

  • Yeah it might, the weather is the one thing we can't pick. I’ve got it under control, I'll even come with a literal car boot full of umbrellas so we can brave it and get out there still. Grey skies photograph beautifully.

I'll location scout and suss out shady spots 'cause too much sun is not great for photos either - squinting, sweating, harsh shadows. I'll figure out where the sun will be for sneaking off for a few golden sunset photos. End of the day light is always the best light.

  • Same. It's a struggle. One of the main reasons I like us to meet up at the start is so you can get to know me a bit and see if I'll be a good fit for not just you two, but also your family & wedding party. If you're comfortable around me you can trust that I've got your back, it's in my best interests to make you look like a hottie in your wedding photos.

My biggest tip is keep your focus on each other and the people around you and stop thinking where is the photographer, what's she up to? Most of the time I'm slinking about, but I will pipe up with some gentle direction if you're looking a little lost. And legit, no awkward poses.

  • Planning Weddings can get a bit much. I got you with vendor recommendations, locations, putting together a timeline for the day. I've been to a lot of weddings & I am ready & willing to impart advice. Picking my brains begins as soon as you hit send on the contact form.
